World IN BRIEF : SOUTH KOREA : Economist Named Prime Minister

President-elect Kim Young Sam named economist Hwang In Sung, 67, the governing party’s chief policy-maker and an economics expert, as prime minister in what was seen as an effort to revive South Korea’s troubled economy. Kim will be formally inaugurated Thursday. If Hwang is confirmed that day by the National Assembly, Kim plans to form his Cabinet on Friday.
