Aspin on Mend After Breathing Problems
Defense Secretary Les Aspin was in “clearly improved” condition but remained in the intensive care unit of Georgetown University Hospital on Monday after suffering breathing difficulties triggered by routine inoculations, a spokesman said.
He said Aspin, who has a history of heart problems, would be monitored for a second night and get further tests.
Aspin, 54, entered the hospital late Sunday because of shortness of breath, the Pentagon said.
The spokesman said fluid had collected in Aspin’s lungs.
Aspin was expected to postpone a trip to visit U.S. troops overseas.
