A Chemical Twist

COMPILED BY THE SOCIAL CLIMES STAFF

Nightclub life isn’t what it used to be. Social Climes remembers when guys ‘n’ gals used to dance the night away and keep the real world and all of its icky problems at bay for a few hours.

But times have changed.

The other night at a dance spot we noticed a young woman who wore her keys on a key ring attached to the belt loop of her jeans. Along with the keys was a can of Mace, right out there in full view.

Evidently the situation on the dance floor these days is a little nastier than it was in the old days of club crawling.

A McJob Wardrobe

Social Climes took a recent sojourn to San Francisco and discovered a new downscaling trend: flaunting your McJob.

At one bash, we noticed that the dominant garb among today’s twentysomethings was bike-messenger uniforms complete with knapsacks and pagers.

A few cut-above groovers even sported attire from recognizable 24-hour mini-marts.
