Mexico’s Trade Deficit Up 101%: The country’s finance ministry said the trade deficit reached a record $20.61 billion in 1992, up from $10.23 billion in 1991. Imports totaled $48.14 billion while exports totaled $27.53 billion. The ministry said imports of capital goods rose 35.9% while consumer-goods imports jumped 34.3%. Worries about the size of the ’92 trade deficit were one factor depressing the Mexican stock market in February.
