Trade Surplus Plunges for Two Months: Taiwan’s trade surplus plunged 63.7% in the first two months of 1993 from a year ago on a big increase in imports, the government said. The Finance Ministry said the trade surplus fell to about $480 million for January and February. Imports gained 12.6% to $12.1 billion for the first two months of the year on strong purchases of capital equipment, a sign of strong local investment, said C.S. Chen, chief of the ministry’s statistics department.
