Pollution Research Expects 4th-Quarter Loss

Share

Pollution Research & Control Corp., a Glendale maker of air-pollution measuring instruments, said it expects to report a loss for the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31, partly because of inventory shortages that may be the result of employee theft.

Albert E. Gosselin Jr., president and chief executive officer, said the company has dismissed certain employees after an in-house review “uncovered possible misappropriation of funds and other improprieties.”

Gosselin added: “Management believes that the dishonest actions are primarily limited to the fourth quarter of 1992 and should not impact 1993’s operations. Completion of the company’s internal investigation and the year-end audit is necessary to accurately determine the fourth-quarter loss.”

Gosselin said other factors also contributed to the expected fourth-quarter loss, including the unexpected, forced move of the company’s facilities in September and October, which delayed shipments, as well as higher legal fees and costs of a lawsuit settlement. Pollution Research’s products are sold through the trade name Dasibi.
