NORTHRIDGE : Husband Waits for Call About Remains

Share

The phone will ring any day now, either confirming Peter Pandelios’ worst fears or leaving him once again in limbo.

Since February, 1992, the former Northridge resident has waited for word of his 20-year-old wife, Kimberly, who simply vanished.

Earlier this month, he got a call from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department about skeletal remains unearthed from a shallow grave in the Angeles National Forest.

He now awaits another call to confirm whether they are those of Kimberly, a model and the mother of his 2-year-old son, Nicholas.

“We don’t know for sure yet,” said Pandelios, now living with his parents in Bethlehem, Penn. “I’m just going to wait. What else can you do?”

While he hopes against hope that Kimberly will walk through the door once again, he is bracing for the worst. If the remains are those of his wife, he will begin preparations to hold a memorial service in Pennsylvania.

Pandelios disappeared Feb. 27 after telling a baby-sitter that she was on her way to the Burbank-Glendale area for a modeling shoot. The next day, her car was found on the Angeles Forest Highway north of Altadena.

On March 3, a hiker found skeletal fragments nearly two miles from the spot where her car was found, sheriff’s officials said. Investigators are still checking dental records to determine if the remains are those of Kimberly.

Until then, Pandelios and other relatives in Pennsylvania will wait.
