Race Not an Election Issue
As a candidate for Los Angeles City Council District 7, I have naturally followed The Times’ election coverage quite closely.
While I applaud the paper’s overall coverage, I take strong exception to the continuing injection of race into almost all of your coverage.
Nearly every article focuses on the percentage of Latino, Anglo, and black residents and voters by focusing on the candidates’ ethnicity and the district’s makeup. The voters care more about jobs, crime, transportation, the environment and other issues than the color of the candidates’ skin.
