Mazda, Nissan to Drop All Temporary Factory Workers: Mazda Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co. plan to cut all temporary factory jobs to cut costs, the Nihon Keizai newspaper reported. Of the 14,500 factory workers on Mazda’s payroll, 1,000 are temporary workers on three-month to one-year contracts, the paper said. Nissan, which currently has about 500 temporary workers, will eliminate these jobs by March, 1994, it said.
