Augustin Tingtsu Liu, above, is secretary general of Taiwan’s China External Trade Development Council. He started a seven-city promotional U.S. tour in Los Angeles last week. Taiwanese firms sell more to the U.S. than vice versa, although the surplus has grown smaller in recent years. Liu’s mission is to show Americans some of the country’s higher quality, value-added products, such as computers and accessory products.
