GLENDALE : Woman Gets 90 Days in Jail for Stalking Weatherman

A woman who used to serve on the Los Angeles police force was sentenced Thursday to 90 days in County Jail and three years probation for stalking a KABC-TV weatherman.

Martha Cane, 41, could have faced up to a year in County Jail for stalking Dallas Raines. It took a Glendale jury about 30 minutes last month to find her guilty. Deputy Dist. Atty. Mark Kim said he recommended the maximum sentence against Cane “because this was a very serious offense.”

Cane was charged with misdemeanor stalking because there was no restraining order in effect against her at the time of her arrest, he said. The ex-narcotics officer and three-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department was arrested Jan. 23 by sheriff’s deputies after she showed up at Raines’ La Crescenta home and harassed him and his wife.
