LOS ANGELES : Investigation of Holden Harassment Claims Urged

Share

A coalition of feminist activists who have called on the Los Angeles City Council to order an investigation into the sexual harassment allegations against Councilman Nate Holden took their protest to Holden’s office door Friday after they were denied a chance to speak in council chambers.

Members of the Women’s Action Coalition (WAC)--a group with representatives from 15 women’s rights organizations--had waited more than three hours at a council meeting to speak in a public hearing. But after Holden left the council chambers, the meeting adjourned due to lack of a quorum.

“Stop sexual violence. . . . We will not be silenced,” WAC members later chanted outside Holden’s office.

Holden, a mayoral candidate, has denied charges of sexual harassment leveled against him in lawsuits filed by three former employees. The charges are the subject of state and federal inquiries.
