Keshmiri Suspended for Life

Kamy Keshmiri, the U.S. discus champion in 1989 and a three-time NCAA champion while at the University of Nevada, has been suspended for life, USA Track & Field said Friday.

Keshmiri, who failed to appear for two out-of-competition drug tests, dropped his appeal of a positive drug test.

He had tested positive for methandienone, a steroid, in an out-of-competition test mandated by the International Amateur Athletic Federation, track and field’s governing body, on May 15.

A first doping offense results in an automatic four-year suspension. For failing to appear for out-of-competition tests Dec. 7 and Jan. 4, Keshmiri was suspended for life.

Keshmiri won the discus competition at last year’s U.S. Olympic trials at New Orleans.
