Treating Criminals Like Prima Donnas

Let me get this straight. People are supposed to keep their car doors locked while scanning the surrounding area for suspicious activity (plus watching other traffic, pedestrians and traffic and retail signs. Heck! You need two heads.) But if someone approaches you with a gun, just give them the car and anything else they might demand, and “hope nothing will happen,” according to police (“Police Warn Drivers About Carjackings,” March 5).

And if a criminal is speeding away from the crime scene, police are not supposed to pursue them at “excessive speeds,” according to bleeding hearts, which means the chance for escape is dramatically increased so that the criminal can strike again.

And if a criminal does end up in court and “admits” he/she is sorry for the crime committed, he/she will very likely receive a reduced sentence. What is going on here? Isn’t this just giving criminals carte blanche to do whatever they want to do with little or no fear of victim resistance, police pursuit and criminal justice? Why does society have to continually face intimidation, fear, property loss, assault or perhaps death because these criminal misfits are continually treated like prima donnas? When will society demand that enough is enough?
