Black gunmen killed a 55-year-old man in the third attack on whites in South Africa in three days. Police spokesman Maj. Piet van Deventer said Tony Concer was a passenger in a car when three or four black gunmen opened fire from the roadside at Vanderbijlpark, south of Johannesburg. The shooting followed an attack by black gunmen on a car in the Walkerville area south of Johannesburg on Friday in which a mother, her 14-year-old son and a 13-year-old girl were killed. In the Eastern Cape, white college student Frederick Johannes Jerling, 18, was killed by a black gunman who sprayed a motel bar near Fort Beaufort on Saturday, police said.
