Huntington Library’s Director Honored
William Andrew Moffett, director of the Huntington Library in San Marino, has been named 1993 Librarian of the Year by the Assn. of College and Research Libraries.
The $3,000 award is given annually to an individual who is making outstanding contributions to academic or research librarianship and library development.
The committee cited Moffett’s leadership in combatting the theft of and trade in rare books and for successfully challenging the scholarly monopoly of unpublished Dead Sea Scrolls materials in 1991.
Moffett has served as president of the association and chair of the association’s college libraries section.
