Reflection on My Lai

In response to “It Was a Nazi Kind of Thing,” Commentary, March 16:

You are to be congratulated on publishing Ron Ridenhour’s wrenching recounting of depravity in our Vietnam debacle at My Lai. Sober reflection, please, before we wax indignant about man’s inhumanity to man in Serbia, in El Salvador, in Cambodia, in Africa, in Germany, in the Soviet Union. And then there was the indigenous population of North America. What ever became of the American Indian?

Man’s inhumanity is clearly not endemic. Sober reflection, please, before we shoot our mouths--or missiles--off.
