LAKEWOOD : No Charges for 2 in Case Unrelated to Sex Scandal
Prosecutors declined to file charges Wednesday against two teen-agers affiliated with a Lakewood High School “posse,” in a case unrelated to the campus sex scandal.
Daniel Frazier and Kasey Catlin had been arrested Monday for allegedly making terrorist threats and intimidating witnesses. Authorities said the arrests of the 18-year-olds were not related to the arrests of Spur Posse members last week.
Frazier and Catlin were arrested on suspicion of committing a series of assaults and threats since Feb. 16 against other high school students. The teen-agers were held on suspicion of using a vehicle to attack two 15-year-old girls, and of beating and kicking a 17-year-old boy and robbing a 14-year-old boy. Sheriff’s deputies accused them of trying to intimidate the victims, and several witnesses so they would not testify about those incidents. District attorney’s spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said “there wasn’t enough evidence to prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt.”
