LAKE FOREST : City Postpones Community Fair

The city’s first community fair, originally planned for this weekend, has been postponed indefinitely, officials said Thursday.

Unable to come to an agreement with B & B Amusements of Fountain Valley over where the carnival would be located, the Lake Forest Activities Committee has put off the celebration.

“It’s all up in the air right now,” said Mark Pullone, city administrative assistant. “It could be held in a month or a year.”

The city’s activities committee had planned to call the event Lake Forest Days and use the revenue to fund other city celebrations. The committee also organizes a Fourth of July parade and golf tournament.

B & B officials had tentatively agreed to set up the carnival near Bake Parkway and Commerce Center Drive, but after visiting the site felt that the streets did not have enough traffic.

“The committee contacted several carnival companies and wasn’t able to come to an agreement with any of them,” Pullone said.

Most amusement firms need a lot large enough to accommodate rides and booths that is located on a heavily traveled road with freeway visibility, Pullone said.
