Chespi Serna

I salute reporter Catherine Gewertz for her article (“Full Court Pressure,” March 21). The portrayal of Chespi Serna was heartwarming in a very simple yet powerful way.

The focus of the article was on the courage, strength and support of Serna as she tackles being a high school student, basketball, player and mother.

While so often the media has a way of reporting on the social issues that face modern-day society, what seems to get brushed aside is the power of community coming together to assist one another. This was a story of love and courage.
