U.N. Commission on El Salvador
The U.N. Truth Commission affirmed what many of us said during the Reagan Administration--that most of the atrocities in the Salvadoran civil war were committed by government troops.
If this had been issued during the Reagan presidency, the President would have pronounced it “communist propaganda,” and told the press to ignore it--and the press would have obliged him.
Why did the press roll over and play dead for so many years? Who’s to say it won’t happen again?
Remember the World Court decision on the U.S. mining of Nicaraguan harbors in ‘84, and the Reagan response?
