SEAL BEACH : County Funds to Be Sought for Roads

The City Council last week voted to seek county grants to help pay for road improvements throughout Seal Beach.

City officials hope the Orange County Transportation Authority will provide about half the $610,000 needed to make the repairs. The city plans to pay the other half.

The proposed projects include:

* Resurfacing Seal Beach Boulevard between Pacific Coast Highway and Bolsa Avenue. Cost: $135,000.

* A seismic study of the Marina Drive bridge in conjunction with Long Beach and Los Angeles County. Cost: $25,000.

* Resurfacing Electric Avenue between Seal Beach Boulevard and 6th Street. Cost: $150,000.

Work on some of the projects could begin later this year if the county grants are approved. Officials aren’t sure which, if any, improvements will be completed if the county decides not to provide funding.

Earlier this year, resurfacing work was completed on a portion of Seal Beach Boulevard.
