Racing under pressure on the final day of the season, Anita Wachter of Austria won her first women’s overall World Cup title at Are, Sweden.
Wachter tied for 11th place in slalom, earning 24 points. That gave her a season total of 1,286, 20 more than Katja Seizinger.
The World Cup season ended with Thomas Fogdoe of Sweden winning the final race and clinching the men’s slalom title.
