Re Angela Goldberg’s March 20 letter regarding teen drivers and alcohol:

While I agree completely with her opinions and ideas, the statistic she cited disturbs me.

She says “Every 57 seconds a teen-ager dies in an alcohol-related crash.” At this rate, more than half-a-million teen-agers would die per year. However, last I checked, the total alcohol-related auto deaths each year is not more than 30,000. JONATHAN R. FOX

Editor’s note: The Times editorial that Goldberg referred to in her letter stated that every 57 minutes a teen-ager dies in an alcohol-related crash.
