Santa Monica Vision Center Gets $38,820

The Alliance Healthcare Foundation has given $38,820 to the Center for the Partially Sighted in Santa Monica. The grant will be used to expand the state’s only vision rehabilitation program for people with AIDS-related eye diseases.

“Eye disease is unfortunately quite common in AIDS patients,” said Ruth Riedel, executive director of the foundation. “The consequences of blindness for people with AIDS are devastating since the addition of sight problems significantly undermines the ability to perform the important daily tasks.”
