SANTA CLARITA : 2 Die in Apparent Murder-Suicide
A Santa Clarita man upset over a troubled relationship shot and killed his girlfriend and then himself, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.
Darryl L. Driedger, 37, and Maria A. Gavirati, 32, were found dead about 8 p.m. Monday in the house they shared in the 27100 block of Elias Avenue, Deputy Bill Wehner said.
Gavirati worked at the county Department of Children’s Services office in Panorama City and did not show up for work or call in sick Monday, he said.
They had been living there for three years, but Gavirati planned to move out April 15, Wehner said. Deputies went to the home and forced open the door when there was no answer, he said.
