Give Children of God Credit for Better Life

After reading your article on the Children of God (“A True Conversion?” March 21), I was compelled to write.

My youth was plagued with drugs and alcohol. After searching for meaning in my life I soon found my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I met the Children of God at a shopping center where they were handing out gospel literature.

About one month later I decided to dedicate my life to full-time service for God in an effort to reach other troubled youth like myself.

I joined the Family in 1978. I studied the writings of David Berg for eight years. I worked with five different missionary families. I was a child-care helper. During eight years as a member, I never read or experienced any of the sexual accusations printed in your article. Never did I see or hear of any such behavior as adult-child sex.
