Distrust of the Media

Share

You are very right when you say that we often do not trust your reporting as we once did. One reason being it seems that you now make the facts fit into your story instead of doing the hard journalistic work of making your story fit into the framework of the facts.

A case in point is “Working the Edge of Fear” (March 31), which ignores the larger picture within which it fits. Our city has a problem with assimilating illegal aliens and your subject fits the profile of being one, yet you do not tell us if she entered the country legally 2 1/2 years ago. Then you state that “Here on bustling Alvarado Street . . . the city’s enormous underground economy is hard at work,” but you do not tell us that our black-market economy is not only illegal but destructive to the economy of California.

But we still have the greatest press Establishment in the world and for that we should always be thankful.
