2 Officers Guilty in King Case

Share

For the first time in my life I understand from a gut level what a moral victory means, after hearing the verdicts from the Rodney King civil rights trial. I truly recognize the full meaning of setting a precedent. Now all police will understand that if they violate the civil rights of any citizen (including blacks), they can be successfully prosecuted and found guilty by a jury.

I do know from a gut level that racism may only be practiced by a few, but whatever race is targeted they will suffer as a whole, particularly if the racists are the government or police force.

The King civil rights trial is only the tip of the iceberg; clearly more has to be done in the area of equal protection under the law, but my gut tells me this is a significant start.
