ROME : A Papal First
Pope John Paul II jets off on another foreign trip Sunday, this time a remarkable one-day stop in backward Albania, once among the most fiercely atheistic countries on Earth.
The 14-hour, four-speech trip will take the Pope to the capital, Tirana, and to the provincial center of Scutari, where he will ordain four bishops in the predominantly Muslim country.
The trip is his first to Albania, his 58th abroad since 1978 and his fourth to a former Communist nation.
