From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The family of a German tourist who was shot and killed last month in South Florida filed a $10-million lawsuit blaming a car rental agency for contributing to the death. Jorg Schell was killed as three teen-agers tried to steal his wife’s purse as she got out of a rental car in a motel parking lot. Schell’s wife, Sonja, and daughter, Nicole, filed the lawsuit against Alamo Rent A Car and Days Inn, attorney Theodore Fournaris said. Their rental car displayed a small company logo and the “Y” or “Z” license plate that police say lets robbers easily identify potential victims.
