Share

Employees of an Oxnard department store were confronted after closing by an armed robber who forced the manager at gunpoint to open a safe before escaping with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.

The robbery occurred about 9:20 p.m. Thursday when a man believed to be in his 20s, and who had apparently hidden in the store, surprised employees of the Marshall’s Department Store on Ventura Boulevard, Oxnard Police Officer Gregory Ramirez said.

The robber forced the seven employees still in the store to lie face down on the floor before forcing the store manager to open the safe, Ramirez said.
