Fifty employers are scheduled to be on hand to recruit young workers or give career advice May 1 at Simi Valley’s seventh annual Job and Career Fair for Youth sponsored by the city’s Youth Employment Service.

“There’s a real range of businesses, so we think that this will offer a lot of opportunity to local youth,” said Sandra Thompson, the city’s youth employment service coordinator. “We’re expecting a large turnout.”

More than 900 job seekers have attended prior fairs, Thompson said.

This year’s event will be held at Mountain Gate Plaza, 1159 Los Angeles Ave., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“There will be 50 tables set up throughout the mall and there will be someone at each table representing a business offering either a job or career information,” Thompson said.

Representatives from retail, food service, medical, banking, recreation, child care, department stores and other area businesses will participate in the fair, she said.

Officials from colleges and trade schools will also attend.
