Military Food Supplier Admits Fraud: The largest military food supplier on the West Coast and its president pleaded guilty to defrauding the Pentagon of more than $500,000, a federal prosecutor said. Yucaipa-based AGS Food Inc. and Alexander Patrick Amistadi agreed to pay about $560,000 in restitution, Assistant U.S. Atty. Nathan J. Hochman said. At the direction of Amistadi, AGS submitted bogus claims to the Defense Department’s Defense Commissary Agency from 1989 through 1992, inflating the cost of products sold to military bases, Hochman said. It faces a maximum fine of $4.5 million.
