GOP Defeat of Stimulus Plan

In response to a letter (April 17): To say that the Republicans’ tactics blocking Clinton’s economic plan are un-American is absolutely preposterous. The letter writer doesn’t understand how dangerous it is for a country to have both bodies of Congress as well as the presidency controlled by one party.

The Republicans, even as a minority, have every right and the responsibility to have their voices heard. I applaud their blocking of Clinton’s wasteful “stimulus package.” This package would not stimulate the economy or create jobs!

By standing up in opposition to certain programs and legislation the Republicans ensure that tyranny cannot prevail and America’s freedom is protected. For the Republicans to do less is un-American!
