Whole Lot of Payin’: Internal Revenue Service agents seized pianos, furniture and mementos from Jerry Lee Lewis’ house and planned to auction them unless he pays more than $1.6 million in back taxes. The government said Lewis owes taxes for 11 years, from 1978 to 1986 and for 1989 and 1991. He filed for bankruptcy protection in 1988 and was freed of some debt but not the $1.6 million. Lewis was not available for comment, but his attorney said, “Jerry Lee wants to pay what he owes.”
