Holocaust in Bosnia

The reason our European allies are loath to join Clinton’s foray into the Balkans is that they are better acquainted with the history of the area. These people have been barbarously killing one another for over 1,000 years. Any puny attempt to reconcile them now is surely doomed to failure.

Nevertheless, we cannot ignore the atrocities, which while commonplace to the region offend our more delicate sensibilities. I suggest the following plan:

* If one side refuses a cease-fire, we should enthusiastically give (not sell) arms to the other side.

* We should lift the ban on U.S. citizens fighting for a foreign state.

* We should wholeheartedly open our doors to refugees from the carnage, and not repeat the disgraceful refusal of World War II refugees.

* We should assiduously avoid any involvement of non-volunteers in this age-old blood bath.

If we start bombing, some planes will be lost. In order to defend them, we will have to send in ground troops to secure airfields, etc. Some of them will be lost. In order that they will not have died in vain, we will have to send in more troops. The public will be exhorted to “support our boys.” Naysayers will be branded unpatriotic. Many of our boys will end up being “supported” by six of their colleagues.
