Countywide : El Toro Warns It Could Get Noisier

Share

Residents may experience an increase in aircraft noise around the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station throughout May as pilots participate in “field carrier landing practice” and late-night transport flights.

Base officials, however, said aircraft participating in the practices will be using special procedures to reduce noise.

Field carrier landing practices prepare pilots for their first landing on an aircraft carrier at night, which requires extensive practice on land, according to officials.
