Barry Bonds and his father were ejected after a bench-clearing fight in the ninth inning of the San Francisco Giants’ 8-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies Wednesday night at Denver.

Bud Black (3-0) pitched three-hit ball for eight innings, and Matt Williams and Mark Carreon homered for the Giants.

In the ninth, after Jerald Clark was hit by a pitch for the second consecutive at-bat, he headed toward Giant pitcher Mike Jackson. They exchanged words and the dugouts emptied, but no punches were thrown and order seemed to be restored.

Suddenly, Bonds got agitated and the teams rushed toward each other again, this time trading blows. Bonds and his father, Giant hitting coach Bobby Bonds, were ejected, as were Clark and Colorado coach Ron Hassey.

Carreon broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning with a two-run homer off starter Butch Henry (2-3). Williams hit his major league-leading 12th homer, a three-run blast, in the seventh.

Florida 10, Montreal 7--Chuck Carr of the Marlins hit a grand slam at Montreal for his first major league home run.

Carr connected in the second inning off Chris Nabholz (2-3) for his first homer in 176 at-bats. Greg Briley hit a two-run homer in the ninth and Rich Renteria went four for five for the Marlins.

Richie Lewis (1-0), an Expo prospect in the late 1980s, pitched three innings in relief of starter Charlie Hough. Bryan Harvey got three outs for his 11th save.

Philadelphia 4, Pittsburgh 1--Tommy Greene pitched a five-hitter and Darren Daulton hit a three-run homer at Philadelphia.

Greene (4-0) struck out six and walked one. It was his fifth complete game and first since September of 1991. He missed most of last season because of an injured right shoulder.

Daulton’s eighth homer of the season came in the fourth inning off Randy Tomlin (1-4).

St. Louis 6, New York 5--A sacrifice fly by Luis Alicea with the bases loaded in the ninth inning gave the Cardinals the victory at St. Louis.

Geronimo Pena opened the inning with a double off Mike Maddux (0-4). Maddux fumbled pinch-hitter Jose Oquendo’s sacrifice bunt for an error and pinch-hitter Gerald Perry walked.

With rain starting to fall, Alicea lined out to center fielder Joe Orsulak. Orsulak, usually among the league leaders in assists, made an off-balance throw and Pena scored easily.

Mike Perez (3-2) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory.

Cincinnati 3, San Diego 2--Kevin Mitchell tripled and scored the tiebreaking run minutes before it rained hard at Cincinnati.

Mitchell came home on Chris Sabo’s two-out single in the fifth, shortly before a storm hit. After the inning ended, the umpires waited the mandatory 1 1/2 hours before calling it, giving the Reds their third consecutive victory.

Jose Rijo (5-1) won his fourth consecutive start. He gave up five hits, including homers by Fred McGriff and pitcher Andy Benes.

Atlanta 5, Houston 2--Terry Pendleton and Ron Gant had run-scoring singles for the Braves during the seventh inning at Houston, breaking a 1-1 tie.

Steve Avery (2-2) pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on five hits. Mike Stanton closed for his 13th save.

Greg Swindell (4-4) lost his third consecutive decision.
