Krauthammer on Gay Rights

Share

The trouble with people like Krauthammer is that they still think that homosexuality and heterosexuality are in competition with each other. Of course parents want their children to be healthy and happy. One way to do that is to teach them that all people deserve respect no matter what their sexual orientation is. Values like that won’t make the children homosexual, but it will make them decent human beings, able to appreciate diversity and basic human rights.

Listen to children talk these days, and you will see that they are not nearly as bothered about gay and lesbian issues as some of their parents are. They see comic strips, after-school specials, news programs and editorials, and they know that one can’t be influenced into being a homosexual. Relax, Charles, this is 1993. Accept the fact that gays and lesbians are taking their rightful place in society and accept also that it is the nation’s children that will facilitate this civil rights movement.
