Readers Speak Up in Defense of Rap Music

At first, I thought “Rap’s Bad Rep” was going to be another article bashing the hip-hop culture, but to my surprise the article was filled with articulate quotes from both sides of the fence.

I am a struggling rap artist. I feel that it is a performer’s duty to entertain the public, not to preach and educate.

Most performers do not have all the answers to life’s problems and it is unfortunate that the First Amendment protects even the most senseless of people, so do not expect every rap group to tell your kids to love one another.
