Shell Group to Acquire Chevron Businesses: Chevron Corp. announced an agreement under which companies of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group in Central America will buy Chevron’s petroleum marketing businesses in Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In a statement from San Francisco, Chevron said the sales, expected to be closed by May 28, fit into its long-term strategy of concentrating on other areas. It also said Shell Guatemala intends to buy Chevron’s 60% share of oil import facilities in that country.
