Working Mothers

It sounds like Carnes is trying to justify her decision to stay home with her children by criticizing others. If she is so comfortable with her choice, why the need to put down those who do go back to work. Does she protest too much? And, where is the father in all of this? Doesn’t she realize that not everyone has the luxury of her choice to stay at home--that many have to work at “some job, just for the money” and that some people do not feel fulfilled by parenthood alone? Staying home with children in and of itself does not a good mother make. We must get away from these either/or ideas and realize that there is room for all kinds of choices.
