Contract in India: Right-O-Way Transportation Inc. in Tustin has signed an agreement with one of India’s largest and oldest transportation companies that will, among other things, provide for computer linkups to monitor shipments.

Right-O-Way signed the agreement with Balmer, Lawrie & Co. in Bombay, which has played a major role in transportation since India was granted its independence in 1947, according to Right-O-Way.

The freight business has become increasingly important in India because the nation is industrializing rapidly. It is exporting high-technology products, as well as such conventional materials such as raw and semi-finished textiles.

“This arrangement with Balmer, Lawrie moves Right-O-Way into the first rank of transport companies serving the Indian market,” said Harald Niehenke, Right-O-Way’s president.
