UNITED NATIONS —
The tiny principality of Monaco requested full U.N. membership Friday.
Monaco currently holds “permanent observer” status at the United Nations, along with the Vatican and Switzerland.
The Security Council must recommend Monaco’s admission to full U.N. membership, and it must be confirmed by two-thirds of the General Assembly. There is not expected to be any opposition.
