Deficit Trust Fund

I support Clinton’s plan for implementing a trust fund to reduce the national deficit. Money received from new taxes and spending cuts would be placed in this fund and it would be used exclusively for reducing the national deficit, which I believe must be our highest priority.

Even though I believe we must raise taxes to seriously reduce the deficit, I also support cutting spending on pork-barrel projects such as the $8-billion super collider in Texas and subsidies to tobacco growers, which are wasteful. In addition, I believe there is still much that can be cut in defense expenditures for new weapon systems without compromising our military preparedness.
