State Taxes and Budget Cuts

Share

I find it very difficult to believe Kathleen Brown would suggest creating a new agency to retire the state’s deficit, or for any other reason (“Treasurer Calls for Extending 1/2-Cent Tax,” May 13). At a time when we are all screaming for reform and less government spending, she wants to spend millions on a new agency to keep a set of books! Don’t you know, Kathleen, that a major reason for the state deficit is the size of the government and the massive entitlements your father and brother helped create?

A rather novel solution just might be to solve our problem by reducing the size and scope of government to roughly match income rather than spend scarce public funds on new agencies.
