We gays and lesbians do not need genetics any more than we need religion to justify our love. Further, the article uncritically throws “alcoholism, obesity and personality disorders that include wife battering” into the brew of sins and genes under debate, without entertaining the obvious fact that loving one’s lover and living peacefully and productively together is nothing like being chronically drunk or beating one’s spouse. Not since the Nazis “scientifically” identified the traits of “asocials”--from the homeless to homosexuals--has such hateful nonsense been given such uncritical, popular currency.
