Your latest go-slow-on-immigration-control editorial claims that legally border control is a feds-only responsibility; but then President Clinton in La Jolla claims that they “don’t have the means”--and all because of the Republicans, of course (May 18).

Come on, Mr. President, come on, Mr. Editor: How about naming the various congressional Democrats on key committees who have steadfastly refused to bring the allotment of money bills for more Border Patrol agents, as authorized by the Congress, to a floor vote?

And, by the way, if we have the means to send tens of thousands of our military manpower to Iraq, and potentially to Yugoslavia, we sure do have at least a few thousand to send to our own underprotected borders!
