Regulations Overused

Share

It was with much sorrow and anger that I participated earlier this month in the Thousand Oaks City Council hearing on regulations for mobile car washers.

These regulations are yet another chipping away at our rights to earn an honest living, to have the ability to use our God-given right to just say “no” when approached for a $5 wash.

I submit that we have gone so overboard on regulations that it has caused the failure of many businesses, as well as causing businesses to move out of the area or even across the border.

So now, if my 15-year-old son wants to earn some extra money in the summer and takes a pail and some soap with a towel and talks to some neighbors and/or walks to the neighborhood shopping center and asks to wash a car, is he going to be required to have all these expensive permits? Is he going to be put in jail for six months for trying to earn a few bucks through the sweat of his brow?
